Last Updated: November 2025

Our Commitment to Privacy

VerbForge is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data and what information we collect when you use our service.

Data We Collect

Information You Provide

VerbForge operates on a no-account, privacy-first model. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII) such as:

  • Names
  • Email addresses
  • Passwords
  • Phone numbers
  • Payment information

Automatically Collected Information

We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to understand how our site is used. This service collects:

  • Pages visited
  • Time spent on pages
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
  • General geographic location (country/city level)

Ahrefs Analytics is privacy-focused and does not use cookies or track users across websites.

Client-Side Data Storage

IndexedDB Usage

VerbForge stores some data locally in your browser using IndexedDB to enhance your experience. This data never leaves your device and includes:

  • Recent verb searches: Your last 30 searched verbs
  • Dictionary lookup history: Your last 30 word lookups
  • Phrasebook favorites: Phrases you've bookmarked
  • Grammar guide bookmarks: Guides you've saved for quick access

You have full control over this data:

  • It's stored only in your browser
  • It's never sent to our servers
  • You can clear it anytime via your browser settings
  • Clearing your browser data will delete all stored history

AI Translation Service

Translation API

When you use the translation feature, your text is processed by our AI translation service powered by Vercel AI Gateway using OpenAI's models. Here's what happens:

  • The text you enter is sent to our server
  • Our server forwards it to Vercel AI Gateway for translation
  • The translation is returned to you
  • No text is stored on our servers
  • No text is logged or saved

What Vercel/OpenAI May Process

According to Vercel AI Gateway and OpenAI's policies:

  • Your text is processed to generate translations
  • Translation requests are not used to train AI models
  • Data is processed securely and deleted after processing

For more details, see:

Disabling AI Features

You can use VerbForge without AI features:

  • All verb conjugation tables work entirely client-side (no API calls)
  • Dictionary lookups work from our local database (no external requests)
  • Phrasebook is fully offline-capable
  • Only the translation tool requires AI processing

Simply avoid using the translation feature if you prefer complete privacy.

Cookies

VerbForge does not use cookies for tracking or analytics. We may use session cookies for basic functionality (e.g., remembering your language preference during a single session), but these are deleted when you close your browser.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Ahrefs Web Analytics: Privacy-focused analytics without cookies or cross-site tracking (Privacy Policy)
  • Vercel AI Gateway: Translation API gateway (Privacy Policy)
  • Google AdSense: May display advertisements (you can use an ad blocker to disable) (Privacy Policy)

Children's Privacy

VerbForge is suitable for all ages. Since we don't collect personal information, we don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. Parents and guardians are encouraged to monitor their children's internet use.

International Users

VerbForge is hosted on Vercel's global CDN. Your data may be processed in different countries depending on your location. Since we don't collect PII and use client-side storage, your personal data remains in your control.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top indicates when changes were last made. Continued use of VerbForge after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Your Rights

Since VerbForge doesn't collect or store personal data, there's no data to request, correct, or delete from our end. You have full control over locally stored data via your browser settings.
